final Scores of Pakistan South Africa match: 219/8 for 50 overs

Pakistan 119/3 in 27 overs

Pakistan won through D/L system at the end of 27th overs

Pakistan has won the match against  South Africa after a close contest. This was perhaps the closest contest in the whole tournament if we take out the rain out of equation. The ball jagged around and anything could have happened if the match had gone its full length.

Pakistan bowlers bowled with great discipline and especially the spinners came up very well to win the match for their team.

here is what AB de Villiers said after the match:

They bowled pretty well in the first 10-15 overs. We lost a few wickets which put us on the back foot. We came out with a good attitude, but came up short in the end. It was difficult to captain when you do not know when the rain was coming. There were constant talks of rain coming and you couldn’t push too hard. Had we known that we were going to play only 27 overs I would have been a lot more attacking. At the end of the day were outplayed by a better team. A few guys built good partnerships around Miller and took us to a decent total in the end. A big game for us against India at The Oval now. We know what is required and need to up our ante. We started off well and know a few areas we need to work on. We’ll start off with a fresh slate and need to play well to beat them. The hamstring is okay, felt a little tweak and will check it out tomorrow but doesn’t look anything serious.

Sarfraz: It was a very important game for us. Credit would go to the bowlers and the fielders. The bowling was very aggressive and they bowled in the right areas. Steve Rixon was very happy today, not quite the last time around. The fielding was excellent today. We had a very good team meeting and we discussed that all three departments must be good in big ICC trophies. Credit to the players who worked very hard.

Hasan Ali was adjudged the man of the match with a figures of 8-1-24-3.
