Review of Lipstick Under My Burkha, Story and Plot
The film has been set in a small town of India. The film tells the story of the lives of four women who are searching for freedom. Rihanna, one of the characters in the film, seeks the freedom to do whatever she wants to do. Leela, who is a beautician by profession seeks the same, Shireen who is a housewife seeks an alternative life of a saleswoman. Usha, a 55 years old woman wants to rekindle sexual romance with a young swimming coach. The film shows the suppressed desires of these women and how they are trying to come over their issues. They rebel against the societal norms. Its a film which explores women’s issues, the complexity of their lives under the societal pressures and expectations and definition of an ideal women.
